Kayla Gold

Kayla Gold holds a B.A. in music from the University of California at Davis where she studied composition, conducting and music education.  Locally, Ms. Gold has been vocal director for productions by Theater Artists of Marin, Novato Community Players, Ross Valley Players, TheaterNow, and directed the 2009 revue "Bernstein on Broadway" performed by Marin Summer Theater.

Though operatically trained, Kayla has a passion for and extensive experience performing songs from musical theater and the American songbook.   She created and performed original one-woman cabaret shows at venues in Marin and San Francisco including the Larkspur Cafe Theater and the Plush Room.

Having a special fondness for comedy, Kayla created numerous comedic characters in musical reveus, received stellar reviews for her performance as Sister Mary Amnesia in the long-running Nunsense, and was a member of the College of Marin's theatrical improvisation group Cannibals at High Tea.  Ms. Gold was also one-half of the Victor Borge-esque music comedy duo of "McQuilkin & Goldberg" which performed from 1999 until 2007 and was featured on local TV stations.

A published songwriter, Ms. Gold co-wrote Trailer Trash: The Musical, a country-rock musical that played to sold-out houses in Sebastopol, California and at San Anselmo’s Playhouse.
