Kayla Gold:
Kayla Gold holds a B.A. in music from the University of California at Davis where she studied composition, conducting and music education. Ms. Gold has been musical director and vocal director for many theater companies in Marin County including Theater Artists of Marin, Novato Community Players, Ross Valley Players, TheaterNow and most recently for Bernstein on Broadway performed by Marin Summer Theater.
Kayla is trained operatically but has has extensive experience performing songs from musical theater and jazz genres. Her original one-woman cabaret show was produced at many venues including Marin's Larkspur Café Theater and San Francisco's Plush Room. She has created a variety of comedic characters in musical reveus, was a member of College of Marin’s improvisation troupe, Cannibals at High Tea and received stellar reviews for her performance of Sister Mary Amnesia in the long-running Nunsense. For eight years, Ms. Gold was one-half of the Victor Borge-esque music comedy duo of "McQuilkin & Goldberg" which was featured on local TV stations and several venues nationally.. A published songwriter, Ms. Gold co-wrote Trailer Trash: The Musical, which played to sold-out houses in Sebastopol, California and at San Anselmo’s Playhouse.
Kayla has an on-going commitment to expand the talents of her students as accomplished musicians, expressive vocalists and confident, radiant performers.
